On March 24, the Society of St Vincent de Paul (IHM Conference) organised an outreach mission. Along with the Vincentians, 64 Secondary 2 students and 15 catechists took part in this mission.
The objective was three-fold — to bring God’s love to the 571 poor families living in the rental blocks of Hougang Ave 1 and Lorong Lew Lian, to let the students see for themselves the living conditions of the poor, and for SSVP to identify and help more Friends-in-Need. All the families were given a goody bag which contained cans of sardines, chicken mushroom soup, baked beans, tuna fish, instant noodles, assorted biscuits, toothpaste and toothbrushes.
Before the students set out for the mission, parish priest Fr Paul Ngo addressed them and asked them to put their faith into action.
