Are you curious about the Catholic faith or considering becoming Catholic? The RCIA process may be just what you need! RCIA, or the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is a journey of faith that can last several months to a year. It involves four stages – inquiry, catechumenate, purification and enlightenment, and mystagogy – and is meant to be taken in community with the support of a sponsor and the parish community.

For our parish community at IHM, the RCIA process is a fantastic opportunity to deepen your faith, grow in your relationship with God, and connect with like-minded sojourners on an enriching spiritual journey. We welcome anyone who is interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or becoming Catholic. Whether you’re a lifelong Catholic or someone who is new to the faith, we invite you to join us on this path to discovery and transformation as a participant or a volunteer.

  • Why you should join

    The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is for those who are seeking to become members of the Catholic Church. This journey is for people who have never been baptized, and for those who have been baptized in Christian denominations.

    Before being confirmed in the Catholic Church, “Catechumens” (unbaptized persons) and “candidates for full communion” (those baptized in another Christian denomination) undergo an educational process known as the RCIA. The RCIA process has several distinct stages.

    This process helps individuals develop their faith and understand the teachings of the Church.
