Lifelong Formation of Clergy and Laity for Evangelisation and Mission
We are called to grow continually in our faith, not only through formal religious education but also through prayer, Scripture, formation, and opportunities to deepen our relationship with Christ. This formation should equip both clergy and laity to live as missionary disciples—able to share the Gospel, accompany others, and respond to the needs of the world around us.
Building Communities of Faith, in and across Parishes, for Different Groups
The Church is not simply a place we come to attend Mass; it is a community in which we belong, form relationships, support one another, and journey together in faith. We are called to build welcoming communities that respond to the different needs and circumstances of children, youth, families, seniors, newcomers, and others, while also creating connections between different communities within and beyond our parish.
Enhancing Differentiated Co-responsibility of Clergy and Laity
Through Baptism, all of us share in the mission of the Church, while clergy and laity have different gifts, roles, and responsibilities. Co-responsibility means that we do not simply wait for the priest to lead everything, nor do we expect lay people to take on roles that belong to ordained ministry. Instead, clergy and laity work together, each contributing their gifts and taking appropriate responsibility for the life and mission of the parish.
Building Unity in Diversity Across All Levels
The Church brings together people of different ages, cultures, languages, backgrounds, spiritualities, and experiences. Our diversity is a gift, but it can also become a source of division if we remain within our own groups. We are called to build a deeper unity in Christ by reaching across boundaries, listening to one another, and ensuring that no one feels forgotten, excluded, or left on the margins of parish life.
Embracing Synodality as a Way of Being Church
Synodality means learning to journey together as the People of God—listening to one another, listening to the Holy Spirit, discerning together, and participating in the mission of the Church. It calls us to move beyond simply informing people about decisions towards creating a culture in which the voices, experiences, and gifts of the whole community are genuinely heard and contribute to our common discernment and action.
